NLRI Grantee Is Honored by NIEA
A Native Language Revitalization Initiative grantee, Niigaane Ojibwemowin Immersion School from Leech Lake, is the recipient of the 2009 Honors List award from the National Indian Education Association (NIEA).
NIEA honored eight recipients at their annual conference on October 23, 2009. Recipients are honored for their work in improving and impacting lives of American Indian children, in local communities and nationally.
Niigaani will be recognized under the Cultural Freedom Award, which recognizes schools and individuals whose extraordinary vision and courageous work celebrate the right to freedom of Native language, culture, and educational excellence. Find more info at www.niea.org.
